Together with Environment Minister Steven Miles, I have announced historic funding for Daisy Hill State Forest - $3.3 million in first year funding to begin a 10 year plan which will turn Daisy Hill State Forest into the leading conservation and recreation destination in South East Queensland.
The two stage plan will result in better facilities, a fully upgraded Koala Centre, and world class mountain bike trails right here in the heart of our neighbourhood. And stage one will be completed in time for the Commonwealth Games, so visitors to our city can actually cuddle a koala.
Today’s announcement is the result of an amazing effort from hundreds of people in our local community.
I would like to thank everyone for helping me with this, for sharing with me why you love Daisy Hill and how you want to see it protected and nurtured.
