I’m honoured that the Premier has appointed me as Minister for Sport.
I’m looking forward to supporting the heroes of Queensland sport, those mums, dads and volunteers who keep our local sporting clubs running. I’m also honoured by the opportunity to work with Queensland’s legends.
Every weekend I’m out and about with my local sporting clubs and I can’t wait to work more closely with the State’s key sporting bodies.
I remain as determined as ever to deliver significant reforms across the building and construction and housing sectors.
I’ve just returned from Queensland Building Plan consultation sessions in Maryborough, Bundaberg and the Sunshine Coast. The level of energy and engagement from local building and construction companies, small businesses, tradespeople, industry experts and other licensees has been very encouraging.
Next month I intend to announce key reforms of the Palaszczuk Government’s new ten year housing strategy to the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute Conference that I will be hosting in Brisbane. This will be a housing strategy for all Queenslanders and will provide clear pathways for people to access secure and affordable housing.
And as Minister for Housing and Public Works I am doubling down on our commitment to support jobs across our regions. We are delivering high quality building projects across Queensland, employing thousands of local tradies while building important social infrastructure.
The Palaszczuk Government is delivering in communities across Queensland and I will continue to put all of my efforts into this vital work.
