The licence suspension of the Cullen Group and collapse of builder River City Homes highlights the need for the Palaszczuk Government’s security of payment reforms.
Minister for Housing and Public Works Mick de Brenni said that he felt for subcontractors, tradies and their families who are facing an uncertain future in the lead up to Christmas.
“This is exactly why we are pushing ahead with the most significant reforms to the construction industry in generations. We need to get the building industry on the level.
“These two cases aren’t exceptions. They reflect an all too common problem across the building industry.
“Our government isn’t willing to accept that this is ‘just the way things work’ in construction.
“If you do the work, you should get paid.”
