Junior Players are Winners with Rochedale Upgrade

If you’ve ever had a game of rugby league, or even a game of touch with mates on a Sunday afternoon on the Rochedale Tigers Rugby League Football Club field at Underwood Park, you’ll know it is what can only be described as “unforgiving”.

Ian Clarkson Field, (renamed in August 2015 to honour foundation member Ian) is home of the Rochedale Tigers Rugby League Football Club at Underwood Park. Tigers boasts 12 teams from under six through to a new masters team in 2017 with 200 registered players and growing.

Locals will recognise the Tigers as an expanding junior rugby league club that is supporting players reaching representative levels.

Over this year’s off season however, and thanks to a government investment through the Get Playing Grant program, young players from our community will enjoy a brand new playing surface.

Mick de Brenni MP who grew up in Rochedale, playing touch footy on the field, joined Club Officials to celebrate the upcoming start of construction of the field.

The Club celebrates its 40th birthday in 2017 so the timing was right to make this important upgrade.
